As India ended their 28-year-long wait of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup title this day in 2011, former Indian opener Yuvraj Singh has walked down the memory lane by sharing a picture from the match. On this day nine years ago, the Men In Blue defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets to clinch their second World Cup title at a jam-packed Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. For Sri Lanka, Mahela Jayawardene (103 not out, 88 balls, 13 fours) hit a classy ton to help his side post a challenging total of 274/6.
In reply, Gautam Gambhir (97) and Virat Kohli (35) joined hand to build a crucial partnership. After their departure, the then skipper Dhoni (91) and in-form Yuvraj smashed winning runs to help India chased down the target in 48.2 overs.
