He might have had a decade away but Cristiano Ronaldo landed in Manchester on Friday (September 3) to link up with his old Premier League club Manchester United. The news of Ronaldo’s arrival in Manchester was revealed by his fiancee Georgina Rodriguez via Instagram.
The 27-year-old posted a collage of photos to Instagram of her and the kids travelling by private jet.
Notably, Ronaldo’s yellow card for Portugal during the match against Ireland means the striker is suspended for their next World Cup qualifier match next week and he has been released from the squad early.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez shared pictures of arriving in Manchester after setting off from Portugal. Ronaldo was not pictured although he was tagged in the Instagram post.
Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United was completed on transfer Deadline Day. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, he had to head off on international duty before meeting up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co on the training ground.
However, after Ronaldo’s yellow card, the Portuguese Football Federation confirmed via an official statement that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was to be released from international duty ahead of time.
Ronaldo will now spend five days in quarantine, however, he should be free and available to train with Man United for the first time midway through next week, which gives him a fighting chance of making the Newcastle game.
