Kaviya Maran, owner and CEO of Sunrisers Hyderabad, must not be happy with her side after another disappointing season in Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023). She would want to see some changes take place in the team ahead of the next season. Here are a few points, the SRH management can think about after finishing in the bottom half of IPL 2023.
When Sunrisers management sits to discuss the IPL 2023 season, on what went wrong and what could be set right, following points must be noted. These are some issues which hurt SRH the most despite putting together a world class T20 side. (Image Source: Twitter)
Aiden Markram was given the responsibility to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad after the franchise's SA 20 side won the competition this year under his captaincy. But Markram has realised that captaining in SA 20 and IPL are two different ball games. Markram was poor as a captain throughout the season and seemed uninterested in the proceedings, at times, to be honest. Heinrich Klaasen and Mayank Agarwal are two good captaincy materials, if SRH management is looking to make this change. (Image Source: Twitter)
Harry Brook is already a big thing in English cricket. There is a reason he has been pushed to play Test cricket so early and he is giving solid performances too. Brook hit a century in IPL early on but following a few low scores, he was dropped. A talent like Brook can win you championships so Hyderabad must stick with him at all times like how Royal Challengers Bangalore do with Virat Kohli and Rajasthan Royals with Jos Buttler. Also, Brook must play as many balls as possible. Hence, make him open the innings. (Image Source: Twitter)
Like Brook in the batting lineup, Umran Malik is SRH's X-Factor in the pace department. Play him in all games of an IPL season, irrespective of his form. He bowls fast and such bowlers are beneficial in breaking stands in the middle overs. In IPL, Umran is a gold dust, SRH must not let his talent go to waste. (Image Source: Twitter)
Adil Rashid quite recently won the T20 World Cup for England with a super show in the final. Making him plat just 2 games in the season so far is criminal, to be honest. Adil is as good as a Rashid Khan or Yuzvendra Chahal with the ball. A quality leg-spinner is as good, in T20s, as a powerhitter or a genuine pace. SRH must give respect to the talent they possess. Apart from Buvneshwar Kumar, there is no experience in SRH's pace bowling setup at least. T Natarajan struggled with injury and Umran Malik was myseriously absent from last few games. Sunrisers need to trade or buy a Bhuvneshwar-like bowler who can share the responsibility. (Image Source: ANI)
