Mumbai batter Suved Parkar completed his dream debut as he scored a double century against Uttarakhand in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 quarterfinal. Suved's 252 helped Mumbai score 647/8 (declared) in the first innings.
Parkar, batting at No. 4, reached the double-century mark in the second session on Day 2, by driving left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh for a single to long-off. The 21-year-old achieved the milestone of the 375th ball he faced, having hit 17 fours and three sixes.
Suved Parkar is a batting all-rounder. He is a right-handed batter and his bowling style is right arm off-break. He was born on April 06 in 2001. He plays for Mumbai and was part of the India U-19 team in 2019-20. He is a product of the Swami Vivekanand International School - Rohit Sharma’s alma mater.
Had Ajinkya Rahane not injured his hamstring last month during the IPL 2022, Suved Parkar may have been serving drinks. However, Rahane's injury saw Parkar being drafted into the Mumbai squad for the first time for the knockouts and he was handed debut at No. 4.
Suved became only the second Mumbai batsman to score a double century on his first class debut after Amol Majumdar, who scored 260 runs on his first class debut against Haryana in 1993-94 season. Interestingly, Majumdar is currently serving as the coach of the Mumbai team and he led the huge applause for the Parkar from the dressing room after he crossed double ton mark.
Suved Parkar became only the 12th Indian batter to mark his first-class debut with a double hundred. Notably, Saqibul Gani of Bihar holds the record for being the only Indian batter to score a triple hundred on a first-class debut when he hit 341 against Mizoram in Kolkata earlier this year.
