Stuart Broad has put the curtain on his superb international career and decided to retire from international cricket. The 37-year-old made his test debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in December 2007. He recently became only the fifth bowler to take 600 wickets in the longest format after Muttiah Muralitharan (800), Shane Warne (708), James Anderson (680), and Anil Kumble (619). Broad is also only the second pacer to reach this rare feat after his fellow countryman, James Anderson.
Broad was bowling to Mitchell Starc on the second day of the last Ashes 2022 test at Hobart. The bowler paused in the middle of his bowling run-up and yelled, "Stop moving the Robot!" as the camera began to pan towards the boundary line and behind the batter. One of the few occurrences of a bowler leaving the run-up due to camera positioning was that one.
The only international bowler with two career outings of 35 or more runs in an over is Broad. The second occurrence occurred in 2022 at Edgbaston during the fifth and final postponed test between England and India. (Image source: Twitter)
Stuart Broad has transformed the game not only with his bowling, but also with his useful batting skills. Varun Aaron, an Indian pacer, was a challenge for him at one point in his career. In 2014, Manchester had a test. Broad's nose was broken by one of Aaron's bouncers.
In his test career, Stuart Broad has bowled a number of amazing spells. But in 2015, in Nottingham, he played at his best when playing against Australia. He pulled up 8/15 for his career-best test cricket stats after dismantling the Australian top order. (Image source: Twitter)
The English team that competed in the 2007 T20 World Cup included Stuart Broad. He had what might have been the worst bowling effort ever in a game against India. Yuvraj Singh became the first player in a T20I to do so by slamming him for six straight sixes. (Image source: Twitter)
