Gunshots, Screams, Blood And Assassination Attempt: How A 2-Centimeter Difference, Secret Services Saved Donald Trump- In Pics

Donald Trump claimed he was shot in the ear. The bullet pierced the upper part of his right ear. After being hit by the bullet, Trump first touched his ear and then crouched down on the stage before being surrounded by the Secret Service officials. 

Had the bullet's trajectory been 2cm towards its right, it would have been a headshot that could have proved fatal for former President Trump. Trump was probably saved as he was making moving gestures during his speech. 

As the gunshots were heard, Secret Service surrounded Trump and hurried him to his SUV. Surrounded by the security staff, Trump pumped his fist in a show of defiance.

At least one attendee was dead and two spectators were critically injured, authorities said. The Secret Service said it killed the suspected shooter — who it said attacked from an elevated position outside the rally venue, a farm show in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The officials said the shooter was engaged by members of the U.S. Secret Service counterassault team. The heavily armed tactical team travels everywhere with the president and major party nominees and is meant to confront any active threats while other agents focus on safeguarding and evacuating the person at the center of protection.

Reporters covering the rally heard five or six shots ring out and many ducked for cover, hiding under tables. After the first two or three bangs, people in the crowd looked startled, but not panicked.
