- Bikram Singh Majithia, the revenue minister of Punjab, has contested from Majitha constituency representing SAD.

- The president of the youth wing of Akali Dal, is the brother-in-law of the state's deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

- Majithia is a cabinet minister heading the energy and resource department. Earlier, he had been alleged to be involved in the synthetic drugs scam case.
