Ludhiana: With just two days left for the filing of nomination for the upcoming municipal corporation elections here, a majority of the candidates are visiting temples and gurudwaras seeking divine blessings for their victory.
According to ToI, most of the candidates from SAD and the BJP are hoping from temples to gurdwaras, along with door-to-door campaigning, seeking God's blessings ahead of the corporation polls.
Among those who are frequently visiting a temple and gurudwara is Bhupinder Singh Honey – the BJP candidate from Ward No 66.
Munish Bedi is another BJP candidate who goes to a Ganesh temple to pay obeisance to Lord Ganpati before starting his campaign every day.
Bedi is contesting elections from Ward No 20.
Interestingly, some other candidates are even organizing 'kirtans' and 'paaths' in their homes before the D-day.
Ex-councillor and SAD candidate from Ward No 36, Jagbir Singh Sokhi, organized a 'Sukhmani Sahib Paath' at his residence on Sunday, in which a large number of party leaders, workers, and area residents took part.
As many as 43 nominations have been filed so far for the municipal corporation elections in Ludhiana. On February 9, 32 persons filed nomination for the civic body polls. Nominations were not be filed on February 10 and 11 due to government holidays. The last date of filing nomination is February 13.
Though just two days are left for filing nomination, the Congress released its list of candidates on Saturday night, while the Lok Insaaf Party has still not announced even a single candidate so far.
However, this delay has come as a blessing in disguise for their rivals BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidates who have got plenty of time for campaigning.
Both SAD and BJP had released their candidates' list last week.
