'Godman' Lipstick baba arrested for sodomy, abetment of suicide in Rajasthan's Jhalawar

Godman Lipstick baba has been arrested on charges of sodomy and abetment of suicide in Rajasthan's Jhalawar.

Jaipur: The Rajasthan Police on Wednesday arrested an alleged 'godman' Kuldeep Singh Jhala in connection with the suicide of a 20-year-old young man called Yuvraj Singh in Jhalawar.

The arrest was made following a complaint by the deceased's father Sohan Singh that the alleged godman was behind the suicide of his son.

Sohan Singh told the police that his family has been in touch with the godman for a long time and has been attending all religious activities performed at his ashram. 

The godman Kuldeep Singh Jhala is very popular among the locals as 'lipstick' baba and is revered as a reincarnation of Goddess 'Shakti and 'Jagdamba'.

The godman is famous for dressing up as a woman wearing heavy lipstick during the auspicious month of Navratras. He is believed to be having close to 700 followers.

However, the godman has landed in trouble and has been accused of sodomising teenagers and abetting a youth's suicide.

The family of Yuvraj Singh alleged that Lipstick baba would coerce his young followers to have sex with them and later torture them. 

Jhala has been arrested for abetting the suicide of a 20-year-old young man, who was also his follower, the Jhalawar Police said.

The youth, Yuvraj Singh, had committed suicide in February after Jhala allegedly threatened him for getting engaged with a girl and started torturing Yuvraj.

Based on its investigation so far, the Jhalawar Police said at least seven followers had confessed to being sexually abused by baba as part of some rituals. 

The godman has also been accused of sending lewd messages to his targets on WhatsApp and the  
police is now verifying his call records.

All the victims, so far, have been male. All victims will now be subjected to a medical examination to confirm the allegations of sodomy against the godman.  

The arrest of Lipstick baba comes several months after Dera Sacha Sauda founder Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted on rape charges and sent to jail.
