Rajasthan sitting over 11.82 crore tonne gold deposits, claims GSI
Apart from the existence of gold and copper, experts have also found traces of other minerals including lead and zinc here.
JAIPUR: Rajasthan sits over nearly 11.48 crore tonnes of gold deposits and these deposits are mostly concentrated in two cities - Banswara and Udaipur, claims scientists and geologists.
Director General of the Geological Survey of India (GSI) N Kutumba Rao said that the deposits were expected to be present at a depth of 300 feet under the earth's surface.
The work for exploration of copper and gold was going on after traces of these materials were found at these locations, Rao said. The work is also going on in Neem Ka Thana area in Sikar district.
Apart from the existence of gold and copper, experts have also found traces of other minerals including lead and zinc here.
As per the estimation made by the scientists, there are nearly 350 million tonnes of lead and zinc deposits in Rajpura-Dariba mines.
The search operation is also underway in Bhilwara to see if these minerals are present under the earth here.
Till date, 80 million tonnes of copper has been found from under the earth in Rajasthan.
