New Delhi: In a major ruling on Tuesday, Supreme Court said that flat owners can directly approach the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) as a group against real estate players.
As per the existing Consumer Protection Act, a petition can be registered in NCDRC directly if the cost involved is above Rs 1 crore.
If this is under the mentioned amount, the complainants have to be petitioned at the district consumer forums.
Up till now builders took refuge in the same argument if the cost of each flat was below Rs1 crore.
