Science and research in US `under threat`, say scientists protesting in Boston

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump's lack of support in combating climate change hasn't gone down well with those advocating the fight.
Protests have broken out on the streets of Boston, with scientists and environmental advocates rallying against what they perceive as threats to science and research in the US.
Scientists are calling for the acknowledgement of the evidence of climate change by Donald Trump's administration and want him to take action on various environmental issues.

Geoffrey Supran is a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who studies renewable energy solutions to climate change. He says the scientists are trying to send a message to Trump that "science is the backbone of our prosperity and progress."
The rally was held outside of the American Association for the Advancement of Science annual meeting, one of the first major gatherings of scientists since Trump's election.
