Against Shashank Manohar's wishes, BCCI boss Anurag Thakur likely to back `Big Three` in ICC meet

New Delhi: The new president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Anurag Thakur is likely to back the continuation of `Big three` in the annual International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting to be held later this month in London.

According to reports, Thakur had earlier held a discussion with England (ECB) and Australia (CA) over his stance of pressing ahead with the `Big Three` formula.

The 41-year-old is also expected to project a favourable BCCI stance for keeping the formula intact.

The so called 'Big Three' features the cricket boards of India, England and Australia — probably the three most influential and riches cricket bodies.

Thakur's plan is, however, in direct contrast to his predecessor and current ICC president Shashank Manohar, who is looking forward to the abolishment of `Big Three` for the cricket's benefit.

The ICC, in 2013 under former boss N Srinivasan's guidance, gave additional power to Australia, England and India which invited a flurry of criticism from the independent cricket stakeholders.
