New Delhi: Basketball superstar Pau Gasol will make his 1000th National Basketball Association (NBA) appearance today, when Chicago Bulls play Charlotte Hornets at the United Centre.

The Spanish big man has carved out an illustrious career thanks to his 15-year span in the toughest basketball league in the world.


Since his selection by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2001 NBA draft, and winning the Rookie of the Year award in the debut season, gasol has made a name for himself in the basketball world.


The winner of two Olympic silver medals is also a five-time NBA All-Star, and a four-time All-NBA selection, with 18,253 points.


The 35-year-old is having a great season, averaging 14.4 points and 10.8 rebounds a game for the Bulls in 2015-16.


And the 7-footer will hope to deliver once again in the milestone match against the visiting Hornets.
