New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is hoping for a breakthrough in the India-Pakistan cricket series in 2016.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, a reliable source in the PCB believes a short series in England likely to open doors for restoration of bilateral ties between the neighbors this year.
“The PCB has also got feelers from the government to remain quiet on Indo-Pak cricket ties. They have been told that the surprise visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Lahore which had led to a thaw in tensions between the two countries could lead to restoration of bilateral cricket ties as well," the source disclosed.
The Indo-Pak series, earlier scheduled to take place in December 2015, is currently stalled due to pending approvals from the Indian government's end.
It would be interesting to see whether the NDA government at the center grants permission to the BCCI to go ahead with the much-anticipated series in 2016.
