Anurag Thakur on Lodha panel report: BCCI not looking for escape route

New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary faced the heat from media on Friday with regards to implantation of the Lodha panel report.

Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the BCCI to let it know by March 3 whether it would implement the recommendations of the three-member panel.

Thakur was immediately asked for his reaction over the ongoing issue as soon as he finished announcing India's squad for the ICC World T20 and Asia Cup.

BCCI is not looking for an escape route, said the BJP MP adding that the organization in the last nine months had stood for transparency and accountability.

He stated that every state association had been asked to look into the Lodha panel recommendations and make suggestions.

Thakur also refuted charges of the board being slow to act in the matter.

He added that the Lodha panel had taken 12 months to come up with the report, while the board was taking just two months to form a consensus to implement it.

The board's legal committee will meet again on February 7 and and a SGM has been called in the third week of February to discuss the same, he informed.
