New Delhi: Supporting an inquiry into the leakage of the Army Chief`s letter to the Prime Minister, BJP on Thursday said the government should also take "immediate" note of the issues raised by General VK Singh as they are "frightening" in nature.
"Leakage of letter is also an important aspect which has to be inquired into and people responsible for that should be dealt with firmly. But at the same time, the more important issue is about the issues raised by the Army Chief in his letter to the Prime Minister," BJP leader Venkiah Naidu said. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Naidu said the government needs to immediately address them instead of "sidetracking and diverting the issue".
"These issues which were raised are frightening. They speak of unpreparedness and also lack of ammunition, lack of other equipment by the India Army," he said. As far as leakage is concerned, let there be an inquiry to find out the truth, he said.
Defence Minister AK Antony has vowed to take the "strongest action" under laws against those responsible for the leak of his letter to the Prime Minister.
