New Delhi: Since making a comeback into the national team veteran cricketer Harbhajan Singh has been warming the bench.
The off-spinner, who made a return to national fold in the T20I series against Australia Down Under, has been waiting in the wings for last seven T20Is.
Considering the fact that the ICC World T20 is round the corner, Harbhajan certainly needs a couple of international matches to regain his confidence ahead of the marquee event.
Before the start of Asia Cup T20, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni stated: “We will try to give everybody a game. It's something that is as important as to play as a settled team. It's important to give everyone a game...”
However, in the Asia Cup opener, Dhoni once again went with the winning combination, as Bhajji didn't get a place in the side.
Besides, young all-rounder Pawan Negi is also on the sidelines and is waiting for his international debut.
It's frustrating for senior pro like Bhajji to warm the bench for such a long time.
But if we look at Team India's outstanding performance in the shortest format of late, then, one can't blame Dhoni's strategy, who is going with the winning combination, especially ahead of the major tourney.
Now it will be interesting to see whether, Bhajji and Negi get a couple of matches in the Asia Cup ahead of World T20 or they will keep warming the bench.
