Maxwell who played a match-winning 96-run knock in the 4th ODI, had also missed the fifth and final game of the 50-over series due to the injury.

As per the reports, Maxwell has returned to his home in Melbourne to nurse his niggle, while the T20 Australia squad assembled in Adelaide, where the first match is scheduled to be played.

Acting coach Michael Di Venuto, said Maxwell “has still got a little slight hamstring niggle so he will spend a few days in Melbourne at home and join the squad when we get there in a couple of days.”

Home team is certainly going to miss its utility player in the opening T20, which is to be played on Janurary 26.
