New Delhi: Hard-hitting Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has been impressed with India's young talent Jasprit Bumrah.
Debutant Bumrah excelled for the visitors in the first Twenty20 match picking three wickets. Prior to that he also bowled excellently in the fifth and final ODI in Sydney.
Watson was quick to acknowledge that Bumrah bowls at a good pace and executes his yorkers well. Therefore there is no surprise that he has come into the Indian team and done well.
"Seeing him in the IPL for Mumbai Indians, he has done incredibly well for them. He bowls at good pace and he is different from the way he swings the ball into the right-handers. Bringing the brand new ball in, he is able to execute his yorkers very well so there is no surprise that he has come into the Indian team and done very well, said Watson on Thursday.
The hosts will have destructor Glenn Maxwell back into the side for the second T20 after recovering from his hamstring issues. Watson praised his teammate Maxwell stating that he can come in and take the game away from the opposition and that one cannot captain against him.
"Glenn Maxwell can just come in and take the game away from the opposition incredibly quickly. He's got all the shots. He hits the ball wherever he wants. You can't really captain against him, because wherever you set the field he's going to hit it where the fielders aren't.”
He also added that Maxwell is incredibly talented and provides the x-factor in any side.
“He's incredibly talented, and the x-factor he provides in any team, is very special to be able to do that,” said Watson.
Maxwell had a good outing for the Aussies in the ODI series and will hope to make þhe difference in the remaining two T20 matches.
