BCCI working committee likely to discuss IPL crisis on October 17

New Delhi: To discuss the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) crisis, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to once again hold its next Working Committee meeting on October 17.

According to a Times of India report, a formal notice about this meeting is likely to be sent out to the WC's various members soon.

The hot topic of discussion is likely to be around the findings of the IPL working group, which was formed to find solutions to the crisis that erupted after the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings were suspended by the Lodha Commission for two years.

Since both the franchises are extremely popular in the cash-rich tournament, the working group has to come out with a decision which is in best interest of the league.

The matter was supposed to be taken up in the last Working Committee meeting in Kolkata on August 28, but that meeting was adjourned after several board members expressed reservations over Srinivasan's presence in the meeting.

The BCCI then filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking directions on whether Srinivasan can attend board meetings as a representative of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA).

On October 5, the Indian board withdrew its plea days after the Supreme Court rejected Srini's plea.

Srinivasan is being investigated in several scams, including one involving betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, where his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan has been jailed after being indicted for passing inside information to bookies.

Srinivasan was forced to step down as BCCI president in March last year by the Supreme Court in order to facilitate investigations into the IPL betting scam.
