Dinesh Mongia calls Lou Vincent's match-fixing allegations 'baseless', says mulling legal action

New Delhi: A day after former Kiwi cricketer Lou Vincent accused former Indian cricketer Dinesh Mongia of fixing matches during the Indian Cricket League (ICL), the Indian left-hander called the claims baseless and said he is mulling a legal action.

Speaking at the ongoing Chris Cairns' perjury trial, Vincent on Monday told a London courtroom that Mongia was one of the key members of a "Gang of four" that fixed matches during the tournament.

Speaking to CNN IBN, Mongia said that the charges were baseless and he had no clue why Vincent had dragged him into the controversy.

Mongia also clarified that he had no issues against the two Kiwi cricketers and was surprised why they brought his name whenever there was something to do with the two of them.

Mongia also said that since his name has been brought up for the second time, he has spoken to his lawyers and is mulling a legal action.

Vincent also took the name of New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Tuffey during the trial.

He said that he had been suffering from mental health problems and depression at the time and "felt good to be part of a gang".

The 38-year-old Mongia had played 57 ODIs and 1 T20 International for India in his six-year international career with most notable achievement being a member of the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup team.

Mongia was in fact suspended by ICL during their 2008 edition due to disciplinary reasons which were not disclosed.
