London: Score and updates from Day 2 of the third Test between England and Pakistan. On Day 1, England captain Alastair Cook opted to bat first after winning toss with the hosts finishing the day at 328.

At Stumps, Pakistan take a 12 run lead with 4 wickets still in hand. If the remaining batsmen can hold on for a 100-150 run lead, the visitors can think of a victory here.

The third session of Day 2 has seen a steady Pak move ahead. The visitors have taken their score to 230/3 with Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq looking solid at the crease. Shafiq is looking brilliant at 97 which includes 12 fours and 2 sixes, slowly inching towards his ton. On the other, Khan has ably supported him with 41 runs. They have added 103-run partnership and trail by 98 runs.

The post lunch session saw the Pakistan team move steadily ahead. In the second session of Day 2, the visitors lost one wicket of Azhar Ali (49) who was sent back to pavilion just one short of his half century in the 40th over. Meanwhile Asad Shafiq built his innings and completed his half ton looking steady at 69. Pakistan trail by 164 runs with 7 wickets in hand.

It's Lunch. Pakistan have suffered their first blow of Day 2 as Yasir Shah, who was looking good was sent back by Steven Finn for 26. The visitors have taken their score to 97 for the loss of 2 wickets with Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq at the crease. They trail by 231 runs.

The beginning of Day 2 has witnessed a stable game till now. At the end of 17 overs, Pakistan are looking good at 52. The visitors have added 49 runs till now to their overnight score of 3/1 with Yasir Shah and Azhar Ali at the crease. They still trail by 276 runs with 9 wickets in hand.


Mohammad Amir set the base for the visitors by getting the first breakthrough when he picked the wicket of Alex Hales in the 7th over of the innings.

It was followed by further destruction created by Sohail Khan and Wahab Riyaz when they sent Alaister Cook (35) and Joe Root (26) back to the pavilion.

Hosts were trying to set their foot when another two blows rattled their batting line-up leaving them tattered at 110 for 5.

What followed was the brilliant innings of Moeen Ali (108) that lifted England to 328.

The hosts bowled only three overs before the day ended but managed to pick a wicket of Sami Aslam with Pakistan at 3/1 at stumps.
