New Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) COO Sundar Raman on Tuesday stepped down from his position.
The cricket administrator's resignation was accept by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and is expected to end his association with the Indian board on November 5
Raman is widely regarded as one of the chief architects behind the rise of the IPL.
But in the last few years, his credibility suffered a major dent due to the 2013 spot-fixing case, in which he is being investigated.
As the most important in Indian cricket in the last decade is set to exit the BCCI, here are five things you probably didn't know about Raman.
1) An IIM reject, Raman specialized in advertising & communications at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and went on to work for Pepsi, Unilever, Samsung and Motorola.
2) In 2004, Raman participated in television reality show 'Harsha Ki Khoj', hoping to make a career in cricket commentary.
3) Before joining the IPL, Raman was the managing director at global media buying agency MindShare India.
4) During N Srinivasan's tenure, Raman had the final say in most BCCI matters including appointing commentators.
5) He is considered the brain behind restructuring the ICC by introducing the controversial position paper in 2013.
