New Delhi: Pranav Dhanawade got 2016 off to an unbelievable start with a record-breaking 1009-run knock.

The 16-year-old's story was covered in great depth not just by Indian but the international media as well.

Pranav was touted as the next big thing in Mumbai cricket and hailed at multiple award ceremonies.

According to a report in Hindustan Times however, the youngster's performances have witnessed a dip after that historic innings in the HT Bhandari Cup.

Pranav scored 74 and 156 in the semifinal (after scoring 1009* in the previous match) and 40 and 20 runs in the final of the Cup.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) then ignored him for an off season training camp for U-19 probables.

The right-hander failed to put up a significant show in the Thane Premier League and Thosar Trophy as well.

He will now head to England on a 16-day trip with Worli Cricket Club. The team will play nine practice matches in Leicester.

Pranav will now hope to do well on this tour in order to grab the attention of Mumbai's selectors.
