Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday said it had granted out-of-turn promotions to 914 police personnel during the past 10 years in the state. Replying to a question posed by Independent Member Engineer Sheikh Abdul Rashid in the Legislative Assembly today, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in a written reply said the government had granted out-of-turn promotions to 914 police officers during the last 10 years. Giving details, he said 197 out-of-turn promotions were granted last year--the highest so far-- followed by 114 each in 2002 and 2010, 113 in 2008, 105 in 2009, 71 in 2003, 64 each in 2004 and 2007, 46 in 2005 and 26 in 2006.
