New Delhi: In the 3rd qualifying match of the ICC World Twenty20, Bangladesh beat Netherlands by eight runs on Wednesday at HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala.
While chasing a tricky total of 153, Netherlands only managed to score 145/7 in their stipulated 20 overs quota.
Netherlands got off to poor start when they lost opener Wesley Barresi for 9 inside the first five overs.
But Stephen Myburgh (29) and Ben Cooper (20) added 32 runs for the 2nd wicket to get their chase back on track.
Skipper Peter Borren too played a handy knock of 29 off 28 balls, laced with four boundaries, in the middle-order, to take his team close to the total.
But eventually they failed to chase the total successfully.
Earlier, after being offered to bat first, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal's magnificent knock of 83 off 58 balls, laced with six boundaries and three sixes, helped Bangladesh to put up a fighting total in front of minnows Netherlands.
