New Delhi: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Sami, who sustained a toe injury during a practice session on Sunday, might warm the bench in their ICC World Twenty20 opening encounter against neighbors Bangladesh.
Sami, was hit on the toe by a local bowler during their first practice session on Sunday, which forced the experienced seamer to miss Pakistan's warm-up tie against defending Sri Lanka today.
"There's still no word on his fitness and we're not sure whether he would be available for the first match," Pakistan team's media manager was quoted as saying by PTI.
However, at the same time he said that the injury was "minor" and team physio Dr Sohail Saleem also confirmed that Sami did not require any scan or MRI.
Pakistan will lock horns against Bangladesh on March 16 at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
After beating defending champions Sri Lanka by 15 runs in the warm-up game, Shahid Afridi-led Pakistan must have regained some confidence, after a poor display in recently concluded Asia Cup T20.
