New Delhi: When arch-rivals India and Pakistan were pooled together in the same group for the 2016 World T20, cricket world celebrated the draw in unison. Already billed a blockbuster thanks to it's storied rivalry and all the political overtones, the match is scheduled for March 19 in Dharamsala.
The picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) international cricket stadium in the lap of mighty Dhauladhar mountain range still required a clearance from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to hold the scheduled matches, including that India-Pakistan fixture.
Having hosted so many high-profile matches in the recent past, Dharamsala is certainly one of the best stadiums in the country with an unrivalled view, besides it's state of the art facilities.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, a joint team led by ICC head of events Chris Tetley and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tournament director MV Sridhar, on Tuesday carried out an inspection of facilities at the stadium.
“We have carried out the inspection and are satisfied with the facilities here," the report quoted Tetley.
“Given the India- Pakistan match, which will be held here on March 19, we have had detailed discussions on security arrangements with the host organisation,” he added.
"Hospitality here is unmatched. Practice facilities and an indoor practice area are of world-class level,"Sridhar said.
Dharamsala will host 10 T20 World Cup matches.
