Get Virat Kohli out with new ball else be prepared for punishment, concedes Jimmy Anderson

New Delhi: Virat Kohli batted through Day 1, gathering 151 run and scoring his second Test century against England.

India ended the opening day in dominant fashion, putting 317 runs on board for the loss of 4 wickets with skipper Kohli and R Ashwin on crease.

After a disappointing Day 1, Alastair Cook and Co. were hoping to strike early on second Day and wrap up India by Lunch.

English seamer Jimmy Anderson revealed what was his sides plan in getting Kohli's wicket.

"I bowled a few balls at him when he (Kohli) came in. Someone like him, we feel like it’s important to get him out with the new ball. If you don’t get him out, he’ll punish you like he did on Day 1,when woe let ourselves down about half an hour before tea."

Though Kohli might have been pacer's prime target with the new ball, it was Moeen Ali who removed the Indian skipper in only the 11th over of the second day. English captain Cook opted for the spinner to get the job done while the ball was hard and the offie didn't let him down. Kohli, who was unbeaten on 151 overnight, hit 18 boundaries in his knock of 167.

Anderson also spoke about the nature of wicket in Vizag, saying, "I’m not sure the pitch will stay together as well as Rajkot. There are signs of it keeping low, and there will be more variable bounce. We have seen a few spun, so we are in tough position and we need to have a good day with the ball and an extremely good go with the bat."

Ali was instrumental on Day 2, claiming three quick wickets to help restrict India to 415 for seven on the second morning of the second test. He dismissed Wriddhiman Saha and Ravindra Jadeja in the same over to reduce India to 363-7 but Jayant and Umesh Yadav helped India reach 455.
