Most runs in International Cricket 2016: Virat Kohli misses out on opportunity to go top

Kohli had the opportunity to go top of the 2016 most runs in International cricket, trailing England's Joe Root by a little over 100 runs.

New Delhi: It has been a two-horse battle between Virat Kohli and Joe Root to claim most number of International runs including all three formats – Tests, ODIs and T20Is – in the year 2016.

With India taking on in a Test series with England, the winner of this battle will be decided in the ongoing series.

After a disappointing outing in 1st Test at Rajkot, Virat Kohli looked to be in his top form in 1st innings at Vizag, hitting a stupendous knock of 167 but knowing the mentality of Indian skipper, he would be disappointed having missed out on a double hundred.

Kohli also had the opportunity to go top of the 2016 most runs in International cricket, trailing England's Joe Root by a little over 100 runs.
