New Delhi: BCCI marked India’s 500th Test match with a felicitation of former Indian captains ahead of the start of first test match against New Zealand at the Green Park stadium, Kanpur.
The former Indian captains present on the historic occasion were, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev.
Other crickters honoured included Ajit Wadekar, Ravi Shastri, Dilip Vengsarkar, Anil Kumble, K Srikkanth and Mohammad Azharuddin. Virat Kohli and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson to were honoured. (READ: After bitter standoff, Sourav Ganguly, Ravi Shastri come face-to-face ahead of 500th Test)
Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik presented mementos and shawl to the cricketing greats.
The start of the match saw Indian national anthem being played and the entire stadium was on its feet cherishing the historic moment.
