HUMBLED! Here's what R Ashwin said after taking his 200th Test wicket

New Delhi: India's premier spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin stayed humble and focus after taking his 200th Test wicket on the fourth day of Kanpur Test on Sunday.

He trapped New Zealand captain Kane Williamson in the 18th over to become the fastest Indian to take 200th Test wicket, in the 37th Test.

"I don't think it is actually the right time to look back at what I have done so far," he told ESPNcricinfo. "I think I have some distance to go in my Test career. I just hope I can one day look back at all these things and probably talk about it in the commentary box later on."

Before him, Harbhajan Singh was the fastest Indian to have claimed 200 Test wickets, in 46th matches.

He is the second fastest in the world, behind only Australia's Clarrie Grimmett. Ashwin had a good chance to break the record, but two rain-affected Tests in the West Indies hampered his chances.

"Very important to take one day at a time, Test cricket can set you back if you take it for granted. Be greedy in terms of what you want to achieve, but preparing for a Test, you have to take it one day at a time," he added.

Ashwin took four wickets in the first innings, and have taken three already in the third. After setting a target of 433, Virat Kohli & Co need another six wickets on the final day of India's 500th match.

And leading the charge is Ashwin, who has became India's undisputed all-rounder. In the first innings, the 30-year-old scored 40 crucial runs to help India cross 300-run mark.

The offspinner made his India debut in an One-Day International in 2010, against Sri Lanka at Hahare. And played his first Test match next year, against West Indies at Delhi.

Besides his 200 wickets, Ashwin also scored 1439 Test runs with four hundreds and six fifties.

In ODIs, he has taken 142 wickets and scored 658 runs in 102 matches.

With another 12 matches to be played in the season, Ashwin can certainly look to achieve many more feats and help India become Test cricket's number one side.
