Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanks India captain Virat Kohli for his `powerful gesture`
India won the Eden Gardens Test by 178-runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series and also claimed the number one spot in the ICC rankings.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday thanked India Test captain Virat Kohli for his part in making 'My Clean India’ initiative a success.
Modi shared a tweet post, wherein he said that he had seen Kohli taking part in a cleanliness drive. (WATCH: HUMBLE! Virat Kohli's gesture towards Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan will make you respect him even more)
"Dear @imVkohli, saw your #MyCleanIndia moment on @abpnewstv. A small but powerful gesture that will surely inspire everyone," he wrote.
Kohli and the Indian team joined BCCI president Anurag Thakur in a clean-up drive at the historic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata during India-New Zealand second Test match.
Kohli, in reply, thanked Modi and said, “We all are trying to make a difference for the betterment of our country. Led in an inspirational way by you.”
