New Delhi: Team India Director Ravi Shastri, who recently came under scrutiny for allegedly abusing the Wankhede stadium curator, stated ahead of the opening Test against Proteas that home side might play four spinners.
When a reporter shot a question to Shastri regarding the number of spinners India are going to play, the former Indian skipper stated that “We can play four!”.
“Give me a pitch that turns from Day One and I will play four spinners. Spin has been our strength in the past too. For winning, you need to get 20 wickets. It’s not five or four bowlers.”
“It’s the balance that gets you 20 wickets. I kept saying in the past that it depends on the conditions,” Shastri was quoted as saying in The Indian Express.
First Test of the four-match series between India and South Africa is scheduled to take place from November 5 to 9 at PCA Stadium, Mohali.
