New Delhi: Lauding the troika of Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja, Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli said facing the three spinners together is not an pleasant thing.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the third Test against South Africa, Kohli praised Ashwin's resurgence in particular and said he was glad to have three formidable spinners at his disposal.
"If you see his bowling in the last six months, he has gotten back to basics, he is not trying too much with the ball. You hardly see the carrom ball. He is relying on his natural bowling action and his stock ball. He is flighting the ball and he is getting stronger fitness wise as well which is helping his bowling big time, because he is able to put that force behind the ball and get more turn and bounce off pitches which other bowlers find difficult. He is just becoming a better bowler everyday," Kohli said.
"As a captain, I am delighted Ashwin is in my team along with Amit Mishra wro brings in lot of variations for us and Ravindra Jadeja, who is very very consistent. All these three put together, if I was playing against them, I would find it really to score off. It's not pleasant facing all three together. I am glad we have all three in our team," he added.
The 26-year-old also hailed Ajinkya Rahane and other members of the team for giving more time to catching practice during training.
"Ajinkya is brilliant in the slips. He is someone who has great reflexes, very quick on his feet, reacts very well in closing positions, undisputedly he is the guy who stands at slips. He has taken a few blinders in Sri Lanka and also at Mohali. We, as a team, have decided to give 20 minutes to each player about reflex catching and close in fielding. As you saw in Sri Lanka, those half changes were turning points in both the Tests we won," Kohli signed off.
