New Delhi: Ahead of the much-awaited series against South Africa, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh hailed the current Indian spin attack which according to him is one of the best.
Speaking to BCCI.TV, the offie said the current attack has a lot of variation and their ability to contribute with the bat is of an added advantage.
“We have a lot of variety here; we have off-spinners, a left-arm spinner and a leggie. I feel this is the best spin attack we have got at the moment. All of them have really done well in the recent past. R Ashwin bowled really well in the previous series against Sri Lanka. He has been fantastic and so has Amit Mishra. Axar Patel has been consistent in his performances in the ODIs. Also, the good thing about our spin department is that everybody can bat," the Turbanator said.
Despite being one of India's premier tweakers, Bhajji said that he is still keen to learn something new from his team-mates, everytime he hits the ground.
“What I see from my side is that I have something new to learn everyday no matter how many years I have given on the field. There is always an opportunity for me to go out there and learn something new. Each day on the cricket field is throwing something new at you and I look forward to the challenge. I try to go out there, enjoy the moment, absorb the pressure and try to do my best.”
When asked about his strategy, the 35-year-old said that throughout his career, he has tried to keep things simple, something which has earned him rewards.
“I have always tried to break partnerships whenever I have come to bowl and made sure to stick to the team’s plan. I have always kept things simple - look for wickets but at the same time not to try too many things. Such has been the case in my bowling over the last three to four years and I have got a lot of rewards for it,” he said.
Harbhajan hasn't been included in the ODI squad but the selectors have shown faith in him for the shortest format of the game where he has scalped 24 wickets from 26 matches.
India will play three T20s against Faf du Plessis-led South Africa, beginning from October 2.
