New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) fined Team India manager Vinod Phadke 40% of his match fee for making "inappropriate comments" on the umpiring decisions by Vineet Kulkarni after a hearing at the end of second ODI match in Indore.

Phadke, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was found to have breached Article 2.1.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

The said code relates to "Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an International Match or any Player, Player Support Personnel, Match official or team participating in any International Match."

ICC tweeted, confirming the fine:

Phadke had critisised Kulkarni's umpiring decisions during the first T20I in Dharamsala and the first ODI in Kanpur. India lost both the matches.

"I have not seen the captain's report, but I am going to mention him in my report. It is obvious to everybody that the umpiring has not been good," he was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo after the first T20 in Dharamsala.

And he was subsequently charged for the offence.

In between, it's reported that yesterday's Indore match was Kulkarni's last outing as an umpire in the ongoing India-South Africa series. He will, however, return as the third umpire for the final ODI of in Mumbai.
