India vs West Indies: Read how a bizarre `technical glitch` could have cost MS Dhoni & co the T20 series!
The result of the match could have been decided via the Duckworth-Lewis method, had the match lasted for three more overs.
New Delhi: Lakhs of cricket fans were left utterly disappointed as the second T20 international between India and West Indies was washed out due to rain.
Trailing 0-1 in the two-match series, it was a do-or-die match for MS Dhoni and his men as they took the guard at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill.
But, in a bizzare incident, the match which was scheduled to start at 7:30 pm IST, started at 8:10 pm IST due to a technical glitch.
The broadcasters suffered an "unavoidable" and "technical" problem as a result of which 40 minutes were wasted.
When play resumed, India bowled out Windies for 143. The Men in Blue looked all set to level series after a good bowling show, before there was a severe downpour two overs into India's run-chase.
The rain, which lasted for around 20 minutes, left the ground totally wet. In the absence of a Super Sopper, the match was called off.
The result of the match could have been decided via the Duckworth-Lewis method, had the match lasted for three more overs.
While the delayed start cost fans 40-minute of cricketing action, it was even worse for the Indian cricket team as it cost them not only the match, but the series.
