India`s tour of Australia: Will selectors give in-form Yuvraj Singh a final shot?
Yuvraj struck an unbeaten 83-ball 98, studded with eight fours and four sixes against Services.
New Delhi: India outcast Yuvraj Singh has been in some very good form of late in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy and he showcased his brilliance once again after helping Punjab secure quarter-final berth.
Yuvraj struck an unbeaten 83-ball 98, studded with eight fours and four sixes against Services. Yuvraj has been pivotal for Punjab this season and his scores in the Vijay Hazare Trophy read, 93, 36, 36, 78* and 98*.
The consistency of Yuvi in the shorter format should catch the eyes of selectors who are going to pick the ODI and T20 squad for India's tour of Australia on Saturday.
Yuvraj's runs have come at the right time and it gives him the space of representing India once again. The southpaw has a lot of cricket left in him and that has been evident this season. Yuvraj has had a good Ranji Trophy season too so far and his positivity in the ongoing Vijay Hazare can pay dividends.
It will be up to the selectors to make the call on Saturday whether to go for an in-form Yuvraj or not. The likes of Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan have struggled of late and this can prompt the selectors to get Yuvi back in the fray.
This will be a perfect opportunity for the batsman to gain more confidence with the ICC T20 World Cup coming in March 2016.
It is now or never for Yuvi and given he is on a purple patch, the selectors should go ahead and make a call on him. But will they select him is a very big question.
