IPL scheduling has nothing to do with Lodha recommendations: IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla

New Delhi: Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla on Saturday said that the scheduling of the cash-rich Twenty20 tournament "has nothing to do with Lodha recommendations."

The scheduling of the ninth season of world's premier cricket league, which starts on April 9 this year, is likely to contravene Lodha recommendations, if hosts India went on to play the final of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20, slated for April 3.

Justice RM Lodha, in his committee report had suggested a minimum 15-day gap prior to the start of the IPL season after the team's last international assignment.

But a confident Shukla, on sidelines of the IPL player's auction, said "IPL scheduling has nothing to do with Lodha recommendations. We are going ahead with our schedule and everything."

The tournament's chief operating officer Ratnakar Shetty also seemed satisfied with the arrangements.

"I am sure that when we prepare the schedule for the season, there are several factors that are taken into account and the best possible window that is available to BCCI for the IPL is concerned. I am sure we will be able to put across our views to the committee," he said.
