New Delhi: Tainted Rajasthan Royals cricketer Ajit Chandila on Thursday said that he had present his case before the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) disciplinary committee and it hoping to get justice.
Speaking to reporters after his hearing with the three-member disciplinary commitee led by Shashank Manohar, Chandila said that he was also hoping to get back to playing cricket.
Earlier in the day, the Indian board heard Chandila and Mumbai's Ranji Trophy cricketer Hiken Shah in connection with the spot-fixing scandal and gave time till January 4, 2016 to file a written response.
As per BCCI sources, the panel has the powers to impose punishment, including life bans on the cricketers.
Chandila was arrested by the police for trying to spot-fix IPL games in 2013 along with his then Rajasthan Royals teammates S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan who have been banned for life by the BCCI.
The BCCI is yet to decide on the quantum of punishment to be awarded to Chandila who has been suspended from the game since the scandal broke two years ago.
The BCCI will also decide on the punishment for Mumbai Ranji Trophy cricketer Hiken Shah for his alleged breach of the Board's anti-corruption code ahead of this year's IPL.
