New Delhi: The birth of Twenty20 cricket has helped the gentleman's game adopt a more frenetic pace, albeit with good returns.
This slam-bang version has already become the favoured format — for both players and spectators — leaving behind the traditional Test and One-Day International cricket in popularity charts.
Discarded England batsman Kevin Pietersen predicted that this game of eleven players with bat and ball will become like Formula One.
The 35-year-old on Friday tweeted his prediction, and said "in +- 10yrs, #cricket will be like @F1."
PREDICTION - in +- 10yrs, #cricket will be like @F1. All the best players playing against each other in T20 franchises around the globe!
— Kevin Pietersen (@KP24) May 20, 2016
Pietersen himself is one of the mercenaries plying his batting skills around the globe in various franchise-based T20 leagues.
He left the Indian Premier League mid-way after picking up an injury, but is expected to play in the Caribbean Premier League, starting June 21.
By the way, F1 is probably the fastest sports with specially crafted single-seater cars traveling at mind-blogging speed, and exiting fans with it's sheer speed and thrill.
