Indian Premier League 2016, Match 2: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils – Players to watch out for

New Delhi: Two-time former champions Kolkata Knight Riders will host Delhi Daredevils at Eden Gardens today in the second match of the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL).

In the first game of IPL 9, new team Rising Pune Supergiants registered a thumping nine-wicket win over defending champions Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.

The match-up between Gautam Gamghir's settled team and perennial underachievers from Delhi at Eden Gardens is expected to be a keenly contested affair, unlike the opening match.

Here are five players who are expected to outshine others today.

Carlos Brathwaite (DD): After that ICC World Twenty20 final exploit, the 27-year-old from Barbados is the one to watch out for. He may or not perform, but the all-rounder is ready to take the IPL by storm. A good day for him means Delhi winning.

Andre Russell (KKR): Another World Cup winner. If Delhi have got Brathwaite, then Kolkata have Russell and they are made from the same mould. Both can bowl and hit huge sixes. Today's clash may well turn out to be a duel between the West Indians as KKR also have Jason Holder at their disposal.

Pawan Negi (DD): The unheralded all-rounder became overnight sensation when he became the costliest Indian at the IPL auction. He then joined the national team. But he still remains an unknown entity. Now is the time for Delhi franchise the reap the investment they have made on the 23-year-old.

Gautam Gambhir (KKR): For Kolkata, Gambhir has been the base. After all the successes with the team in the previous editions, the skipper will once again play that proverbial leader's role. And he is a man of action. When he turns up against former India team-mate Zaheer Khan at the toss and also during the match, the 34-year-old will hope for all things to fall into place.

Quinton de Kock (DD): The South Africa is one of the most underrated batsman currently. His IPL record, so far, is far from satisfactory considering his talent, but the 23-year-old is ready for some action. The recent WorldT20 was a reference point! And Delhi paid a cool Rs 3.5 crore for his services, and was the highest bid foreign wicket-keeper.
