Rising Pune Supergiants beat Kings XI Punjab by four wickets in their last match of the Indian Premier League's ninth edition. Batting first, Kings XI Punjab scored 172 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs, and then Rising Pune Supergiants chased down the target in the last ball of the match.

Over 20 || Score 173/6 (Dhoni 64, Ashwin 1)


Axar Patel to bowl the last over of the match. First ball, no run. 2nd ball, Wide, Next ball a SIX from Dhoni's willow. Next ball, again a dot. 4th ball, massive Six by Dhoni. 5th ball, OMG, yet another six. What a match. Six runs needed off the last ball. Dhoni on strike. Last ball, SIX! It's incredible win for Pune as they beat KXIP by four wickets.

Perera Out gave a simple catch to wicketkeeper off the first ball. R Ashiwn took a single off the next. 3rd ball, Dhoni hit a boundary. Two dot balls after that. Last ball, single off it. Excellent over by the seamer as he gave mere six runs. Pune need 23 runs from 6 balls.

Pune lost Pathan as Dhawan picked up his first wicket of the match. Now the Dhoni-led side is in deep trouble. Required Rate has reached above 14 as Pune need 70 runs from 30 balls.

Supergiants are coming into the contest after a victory over Delhi Daredevils at the same venue, their home ground, while Punjab have lost their last two outings -- against RCB and table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad.


For Punjab, it was a repeat of the previous seasons. Neither a change in captaincy nor the late addition of a overseas players could lift the team.


But today they will take field for the last time this season, knowing that they have nothing to lose, going out of the event with a win is what both the teams would be hoping for.
