IPL 9, Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians – Players to watch out for

New Delhi: In the 5th match of Indian Premier League's ninth edition, an in-form Kolkata Knight Riders will host Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

An enthralling tie is on the cards after MI will look to bounce back from a big defeat and that too in Rohit Sharma's favourite ground. For KKR they will want a second victory on the trot and gain some early momentum.

Defending champions Mumbai will hope to bat well in this game although it will not be easy, given KKR's famed bowling unit. Despite missing the services of Sunil Narine early on, KKR have a bunch of experienced spinners and their solidity in batting too is a plus.

KKR have opted for a settled unit and familiar faces in the squad will serve as a big onus for them.

Rohit Sharma will himself look for a good outing and bank on the varied side to come good in a stiff challenge.

Here are several key players to watch out for.

Andre Russell (KKR): The West Indian all-rounder is a dangerous entity for any side and he proved his mettle in the first game against Delhi Dardevils by snaring three crucial wickets. Being a big hitter with the bat and a superb fielder, Russell serves bags of experience and positivity on the field.

Robin Uthappa (KKR): The opening batsman is vital for the side as he has the confidence and belief in himself to give a vital start upfront alongside skipper Gambhir. Uthappa's versatility with the bat in setting up the game, will keep the MI bowlers on their toes.

Rohit Sharma (MI): The MI skipper will be desperate for runs and that coming in his favourite ground will just better his day. Rohit can take a game away from any opposition and KKR bowlers will know he is the biggest fish in MI's pond and they need to catch him quickly.

Jasprit Bumrah (MI): The Indian bowler has been a revelation for the national side this year in T20Is and his presence in the MI squad serves huge bearing. After a poor outing in the first game, Bumrah will hope he can show his skills especially at the death and contribute immensely.
