New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman AB de Villiers has rated his match-winning 79-run knock against Gujarat Lions in IPL Qualifier 1 as one of the best knocks he has ever played in the tournament.
Speaking to IPLT20.com, the South African said, "This is a million times better than any hundred I have scored. I have said it so many times before that I don’t look at stats. I don’t look at hundreds or two hundreds or all of that nonsense. I just want to cross the line for the boys. Tonight was a prime example of that. I have failed so many times in the past in pressure situations like that, but tonight my experience helped me."
AB was involved in a match-winning 91-run stand for the seventh wicket with Iqbal Abdullah (33 off 25) as the duo took RCB to their third IPL final.
AB also thanked the crowd for their amazing support at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
"The amazing support here in M Chinnaswamy Stadium helped me to cross that line. Let’s not forget about Iqbal Abdullah who played really well there. Our bowlers too performed really well tonight," he said.
With 682 runs, AB is now ranked second in the list of highest run-getters for this season, behind Virat Kohli, who has accumulated 919 runs from 15 games.
