New Delhi: Comparing two players from two different generations is never easy. Some say it is not even fair.
Yet we find ourselves doing so very frequently. A while back it was Sachin Tendulkar vs Don Bradman, and today it is Sachin vs Virat Kohli.
Considering the form that India's Test skipper has been in, many believe that the 27-year-old is bound to break several of the master's records.
During the recently concluded Indian Premier League season however, respected cricket statistician drew a rather interesting parallel between Virat and Bradman.
The Don, widely regarded as the greatest batsman to have played the game, was part of a very different cricketing era as compared to Virat. But numbers and stats always excite and intrigue cricket lovers.
The legendary Australian accumulated 974 runs in just 7 innings at an average of 139.14 during the 1930 Ashes series.
86 years later, Virat scored 973 runs in 16 outings at an average of 81.08 for RCB in the IPL. The 27-year-old missed Bradman's famous mark by just 1 run.
Virat Kohli scoring 900+ runs in an #IPL series is equivalent to Don Bradman making 974 runs in a single series in 1930 against Eng#DDvRCB

Several former players as well cricket fans did not agree with Menon's analogy. Geoffrey Boycott felt Bradman was a genius, while Vinod Kambli stated that Test cricket in 1930s cannot be compared to T20s in 2016.
Rubbish! no he wouldn't, Kohli is only good, Bradman was a genius. https://t.co/Si6tJxvhZ9
