New Delhi: England bowler James Anderson has been awarded an OBE for his services to cricket during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.

The 33-year-old fast bowler overtook Sir Ian Botham's milestone of 383 wickets last year to become England's most prolific bowler of all time.

The cricketer was joined by his wife Daniella and their two daughters, Lola and Ruby, who watched their dad receive the OBE medal from the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace.

After making his England debut in an ODI match against Australia in December 2002, the Lancashire bowler has taken 433 and 269 wickets respectively in 113 Tests and 194 ODIs. He has also played 19 T20Is for England, taking 18 wickets.

He is England's leading wicket-taker in all forms of cricket and the tenth highest in the history of the international game, with 720 in all.

Anderson played in England's Test series victory over South Africa last month.
