Karachi: Former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad has backed off-spinner Saeed Ajmal after he criticized the ICC of 'double standards' when dealing with suspect bowling actions.
According to the Express Tribune, Ajmal had accused the ICC of taking strict actions only against the Pakistan players, adding that Indian bowlers like Harbhajan Singh should also be monitored.
Miandad lashed out at the ICC, saying that they have spared the Indian bowlers while taking action against the Pakistani bowlers.
Following Ajmal's comments, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also issued warning notice against him.
Speaking on the PCB's reaction, Miandad said that it was disappointing that the board had warned the 38-year-old instead of providing him support in his difficult situation.
Earlier in 2014, the ICC had conducted a test and asked Ajmal to re-model his bowling action.
